Hi, I'm the founder of AirbrushDOC
And I almost quit airbrushing before I really started — bad equipment, zero guidance, and a lot of wasted paint. This site exists so you don't have to go through the same.
How It All Started
My first airbrush experience was a disaster.
I'd bought a $40 "complete airbrush kit" from eBay — you know the one. Comes in a plastic case, looks professional in photos, absolute garbage in reality. The compressor sounded like a chainsaw. The airbrush leaked more paint on my fingers than it sprayed on the canvas.
After three frustrating hours and zero progress, I was ready to give up.
A friend who'd been airbrushing for years came over, took one look at my setup, and said: "Well, there's your problem." He brought over his Iwata HP-C Plus and a proper compressor. Within 15 minutes, I was creating smooth gradients and controlled lines.
That's when I realized: it wasn't me. It was my equipment.
I'd wasted $40 and nearly quit an entire art form because I bought the wrong tools based on flashy marketing and low prices. I started AirbrushDOC so you wouldn't make the same mistake.
Why Trust AirbrushDOC?
We Actually Test Everything
Every airbrush, compressor, and paint we recommend has been used — not for five minutes in a store but weeks or months of real-world work. Different paints, different surfaces, different techniques.
Never: "This looks good based on specs…"
Always: "After three months of daily use, here's what actually happened…"
We Don't Sugarcoat
If a popular airbrush has a flaw, I tell you. If a cheap compressor is actually decent for beginners, I'll say that too. My goal isn't to sell you the most expensive option — it's to help you buy the RIGHT one for your needs and budget.
I've criticized products from brands that offer affiliate programs, because honesty matters more than commissions.
We're Part of the Community
This isn't a corporate blog churning out SEO content. I'm an active airbrush artist who participates in forums, responds to every comment and email, and continuously tests new techniques.
When you ask a question, you're talking to an artist who's been in your exact situation — not a content writer reading from a script.

What Artists Are Saying
"It is good that you took the time to post a comprehensive listing of paint options. I wish more websites did so. The mainstream airbrush sites are sorely lacking on this point. Thanks!"
— Barry Munden
"This is my second time at your site. And now I realize you have designed a great site to study and learn from."
— Larry Potillo
"One of the biggest things for me was having Walkup's 93 year old nephew tell me that he was so pleased that his family could now be recognised for all their efforts. History made real!! Keep up the good work."
— Andy Penaluna
How AirbrushDOC Stays Free
Every tutorial, guide, and article on this site is free. Most stencils are free. Here's how we keep the lights on — with full transparency.
Affiliate Partnerships
When you purchase equipment through links on this site, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps cover hosting, equipment testing, and time creating content.
My promise: I only recommend products I've personally tested and believe in. If something is bad value, I'll say so — even if there's an affiliate program.
No Sponsored Posts
I don't accept payment for reviews or favorable coverage. Every opinion is my own, based on real testing and honest experience. Your trust matters more than any commission.
