Frisket is a low-tack adhesive masking film (or liquid) used to protect areas of a painting from overspray while allowing you to airbrush freely over adjacent areas.
Film frisket: A clear, self-adhesive plastic film. You apply it over the entire artwork, then cut and peel away the sections you want to paint. After painting, peel the frisket off to reveal the protected area. Reusable sections can be repositioned to mask the freshly painted area while you work on the next section.
Liquid frisket: A latex-based liquid that you brush onto the surface. It dries to a rubbery film that resists paint. Peel or rub it off after painting. Works on illustration board and paper; not suitable for textured surfaces.
Important: Always test frisket on your surface first. Some friskets can lift paint or damage delicate paper if left on too long.
