O-Ring

What it does: Seals connections to prevent air or paint leaks

O-rings are tiny rubber or silicone rings that create airtight seals at various connection points inside the airbrush — where the needle passes through the body, at the paint cup connection, at the air valve. They prevent air leaks and paint from seeping into places it shouldn’t.

Over time, O-rings can dry out, harden, crack, or become deformed, leading to air leaks, paint leaks, or trigger feel changes. Replacement O-rings are cheap (often available in assortment kits for under $5) and should be part of periodic maintenance.

Lubrication: A thin coat of airbrush lubricant (like Medea Airbrush Lube or petroleum jelly) on the needle O-ring improves trigger feel and extends O-ring life. Apply sparingly during assembly after deep cleaning.

Most airbrush manufacturers sell O-ring replacement kits for their specific models.
