A quick disconnect is a coupling fitting that allows you to connect and disconnect the air hose from the airbrush (or compressor) with a one-handed push/pull motion, without screwing and unscrewing threaded fittings.
For artists who work with multiple airbrushes, quick disconnects are a workflow game-changer — switching airbrushes takes a second instead of several turns of a threaded fitting.
Also useful for: Relieving hose tension when the hose pull from a certain direction interferes with your airbrushing motion. You can add a swivel QD fitting that lets the hose rotate freely.
Quick disconnects typically use standard 1/8” BSP thread to attach to airbrushes, with a proprietary push-lock mechanism. Most brands are cross-compatible, but check thread standards if mixing brands.
